Goa Assembly Election 2022
With another year to go before the elections, Goa politics is heating up. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee has said that all opposition parties should unite to defeat the BJP. Prime Minister Modi has called for a Goa model for development. Mamata Banerjee is all set to visit Goa for two days from May 28. With the enthusiasm she won in the Bengal elections, she is moving pieces to win in BJP-ruled states as well. Preparing for my first visit to Goa on the 28th of this month. They are calling on the people, organizations and political parties to come together to defeat the BJP. Mamata Banerjee tweeted that the people of Goa have been facing many difficulties for the last ten years. Mamata Banerjee had earlier announced that the Trinamool Congress would contest next year’s Goa Assembly elections.
Earlier, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee had said that the TMC would enter Goa on a large scale during the Assembly elections. In the wake of this, some Congress leaders, including former Goa CM Luzino Flyero, have joined the TMC.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi especially praised Goa. Goa was hailed as a new model for development. Explaining the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme, he said that Goa has everything that a self-sufficient India needs.
He said this was possible due to the existence of a double engine government. He also hinted at the presence of BJP-led governments at the Center and in Goa. He said the food processing industry is one of the biggest strengths of a self-sufficient scheme. He said Goa has the potential to become a major hub for the country in the fish processing sector.
